The ReBuilding Exchange is making a huge impact in the Chicago region. Since 2009, we’ve diverted over 3,000 tons of building material from the landfill, made over $2 million worth of quality building materials available to the public for reuse projects at affordable prices, launched Chicago’s first building deconstruction and reuse warehouse job training program and trained 24 people in an emerging green collar sector.

ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability USA is a membership association of more than 600 U.S. local governments actively striving to achieve tangible reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and create more sustainable communities. ICLEI USA is the domestic leader on climate protection and adaptation, and sustainable development at the local government level.

   

In 2009, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley launched the Chicago Green Office Challenge as a strategy of the Chicago Climate Action Plan to significantly improve the environmental performance of commercial buildings. The program was developed in partnership with ICLEI as a means to address greenhouse gas emissions from the commercial sector.

   

eco-Andersonville is an environmental initiative that promotes and encourages sustainability – environmental, economic, and social – that enhances the unique urban character and local commercial vitality of Andersonville.  Eco-Andersonville is a program of the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce.
